Voice Chat Channels
Voice chat channels are channels where users can engage in voice conversations. These channels offer different levels of access and permissions to facilitate seamless communication.
Accessing Voice Chat Channels
Default Listener Mode
By default, if a user does not have any permissions in a channel, they can join the voice chat as a Listener. In this mode, users can listen to the conversation but cannot actively participate using their microphone.
Requesting Microphone Permissions
Listeners have the option to request microphone permissions to participate in the voice chat. To do this, users can:
- Request Permission: Click on the microphone permission request button in listener mode.
- View Channel Permissions: Access the channel's permissions by clicking on the hourglass icon located in the top bar. This allows users to see their current permissions and request additional access if needed.
Managing Permissions
Temporary Permissions
If a user is granted temporary permission to use the microphone:
- Temporary Permission List: The user will appear in the temporary permission list.
- Microphone Access: The user gains the ability to use their microphone for the duration of the temporary permission.
Permanent Permissions
If a user is granted permanent permission to use the microphone:
- Access List Addition: The user is added to the channel's user access list with an access level of 1.
- Permanent Access: Being on the access list allows the user to:
- Remove from Waiting List: The user can be removed from the waiting list.
- Consistent Access: The user can permanently join the voice chat with microphone permissions without needing to request access each time.
Permission Management Interface
Users with the necessary permissions can manage voice chat permissions through the following interface:
- Desktop View: Access the permissions menu next to the channel.
- Mobile Devices: Access the permissions menu from the top-right corner.
From the permissions menu, authorized users can:
- Grant Temporary Permissions: Provide users with temporary access to the microphone.
- Grant Permanent Permissions: Add users to the access list for permanent microphone usage.
- Revoke Permissions: Remove users from the access list or temporary permission list as needed.
Summary
Voice chat channels enhance user interaction by allowing both passive listening and active participation. Through a structured permission system, users can request and be granted varying levels of access, ensuring a flexible and secure communication environment.
